Rules we should obey on the road, obviously for the convenience and courtesy to others.

"Foglights must not be used except in fog or mist or under other atmospheric conditions which restrict visibility."

So I now ask firstly "Why do people feel it necessary to arrogantly have front fog/ driving lights that sometimes are equivalent to aircraft landing lights on at the front and sometimes the red super beam fog rear lamp that is ignorantly put on as well?"

Are you one of these people?????? Why do you do it? Do you think it would or would not inconvenience other drivers? Is it just because you can? Is it just an image thing?

Personally in my own opinion it is not a vehicle with any class that has to have driving lights on all the time just for the driver to think it looks cool.

My poor 45W yellowish light generator powered headlights pale into significance, but I seem to get around allright!

I totally agree Peter. I have 3 cars, all fitted with factory fog lights, and I have never, ever used them, not even in fog (because they are crap in fog too!).

One local cop I know has even nicknamed them 'W@nker lights' and jokes that they say "pick

Some people who have Excels with the red light on the back dont know that they are on or how to turn them off.

Hahaha, I asked this same question on a another forums that deals primarily with the cars most notorious for driving around during the day with foggies on. You should have seen the outcry, I heard such plausible excuses as-

Phill - the point you need to make to them is that headlights are specifically designed not to cause glare for oncoming drivers, unlike the loosely legislated "fog" lights.

In reference to the excel - the ones with the rear light in the bumper bar, yes

in victoria at least, there is no law regarding usage of front fog lights (although I think there should be) but it is illegal to use rear red fog lights unless poor visibilty caused by heavy fog or snow. This is punishable by an on-the-spot fine.

Well here it is straight from the Vic Roads website, the whole dam thing really contradicts itself.

These lamps are intended to improve illumination of road conditions in fog, snow, rainstorms or duststorms.

cannon - that is a very good point, and you are showing the proper use for them.
I'm sure you don't leave them on to dazzle other drivers, nor would you cruise around on a sunny day with them on, you window down, seat laid back, and window-rattling doof-

Further to the discussion re lights, I think that those who have the "blue type" lights that change colour when they hit a bump on the road should be "BANNED"!!

I say this because when you are driving along the road & a vehicle with these type of light

Mario - I was sent a video you'd love. It's a long time ago, and in an inbox I haven't had for a few years now.
I searched Youtube for it, and can't find it.
I think it may have been out of a movie, but basically a "SUV" with bumper mounted fog lights
