Oops, you're right it is a Shire and not a township. Either way, GMH has no claim over the Monaro name.

There is no issue in the use of name etc as we asked GM-h for permission to publish in the first place as we used information from their written material.

In otherwords we asked if we could use information which they had as copyright. Had we not done t

I read somewhere the name Monaro, was used by GMH because of its Aboriginal meaning. (Head for the hill) and that hill in mind, was Mt Panarama Bathurst.

I think its just Aboriginal for "high plain" or "high plateau" or something like that. Have also heard it also means "mountain".

I like what Pagewood guy has said and it makes sense to me. I recall the guy with monaro.com having a legal issue with Holden at one point over the name of his site as this was after the Monaro was re-born. I think that Ben and Warren wouldn't have had an
