hi, any feedback on traditional cooler vs the stacked plate type?
i fitted a stacked plate, recommended for v8 use with a trimatic, doesn't seem to shed a lot of heat
and being a fridge mechanic, i can't recall seeing stacked plate construction apart from very specialised water chilling evaporators ( i think ) in my 34 years on the job

The best tranny coolers Ive used have a tank at each end and like a honeycomb construction core. I had one on my ute. It had a hot 377sbc with TH400. Had 10" 3000 stall convertor. I ran a temp gauge in the gearbox to keep an eye on it, as I also used t Edited by user Saturday, 10 May 2008 6:13:07 AM(UTC)

hi wb, yes, if you could be bothered, a split system evaporator ( room part of small household a/c system ) would be ideal
prolly too long, easy enough to reduce the height but not the length
but in saying that, they are cheap, plentiful and will ha |

I always run them through the cooler first then through the radiator. That way it keeps the tranny at a pretty constant temp which they are designed to run at. By running through the cooler first it takes some of the load off your radiator as well becaus
