Guys, need some advise fitting the door spears to a HT Monaro.
I have repro clips from Rares but I cant get the spear to stick to them.
The spears are perfect undamaged just for info.

Any tricks to this one.

Surely someone has a better way to fit these or mod the Rares clips.

which bit are you having trouble with? the door spears (window moulds) use completely different clips to any of the other molds. They are wire springs and you have to put them on the mold first. You have to whack them really hard to get them on to the doo

That Monaro expert, the coupe door stainless spears. I have an original door and the clips on it are almost the same as the repro clips. I have not seen these wire ones you are referring to.
The plastic clips came in the weather strip packet from Rares.

are you talking about just below the window and not lower ones for base model? (not sure what HT has, I know what HK base model has)

I havent seen the plastic clips used to attach those (window lower) before. Mine all have the wire clips. Wait and see

Wire clips on HK ??

AFAIK, all trim clips on HK/T/G where white plastic. The factory type clipped onto existing 'T' fittings that were spot welded in position, when the panel was pressed. The replacement ones can be either a rivetted 'T' or just self t

I'm sure these are just an aftermarket replacement. The genuine Holden ones fit as I explained.

Dr Terry, where were these spot welded?.

Here are the clips, stock one on the right. The white one is the Rares, there must be a slight difference in these clips.

Here is a p

mate, you should check your clips, have you used a self tapper and spread the plastic as to not fit in the slot of the strip. I had to hit mine quite hard with a open hand to get to go on,you might have to ajust the lip on the strip itself by bending it,t

Thanks Garry.

Yes I have used the self tappers that came in the packet. I did think I may had done them up too tight. But it made no difference.
I also tried cutting off the feet of the plastic clip.

i think the problem is that the repro clips are made of a different material and not as flexible as the orig nylon

it may make things easier if you try doing it on a sunny day with bloth the clips and the molds warmed up a bit. I would try that before
