Due to the massive increase in "forged" tags that is occuring, I am trying to put together a collection of genuine tags as reference.

If anyone has body id and vin tags from any Holden from HK to VL, that they do not have an absolute need for, would they mind sending them to me. They do not have to be any specific model, but i really need them from all plants.

The tags can be damaged, ie not removed cleanly.

Any help would be great.

As people ask me to varify thinks, by having a collection of real tags I can compare to possible fake tags.

I have some tags, never really collected them, but this week really needed to have some to help a person who had a problem. Turns out tags were

I've already busted a fake VL tag.

The only downside to this, is making sure that the repo-taggers DON'T find out what the innaccuracies are in their repo tags.

If they do, and they correct the errors, then it will make it really hard for honest p

That's where logs books come in handy.

I think instead of trying to collect tags why don't you put your resources into collecting log books from those fools who hang onto them for stupid centamental gratification and when you've got a few just list th

I understand that there are good reasons why people would want reproduction tags. A friends Monaro would be a good example, he lost his body ID plate when the car was in a panel shop in the 80s (someone stole it). Being a Sydney car he knows the number. B

Would a photo of a tag be helpful if it is still on an unmolested car or removed and in a personal collection?

I do not think you should remove your tags from your car, but you should have them recorded somewhere.

They will not be "officially recorded" just because you attend the nationals, so if they are stolen and used by someone else, if you have them record

No James as photos are one dimension and not always to scale.

Some of these repos are very good and acurate measurement is going to be one of their downfalls.
