Just wondering whats possible, my set up for our rod is HT Holden front end with a Commodore disc brake conversion kit, now with the rear end we would like to use a HQ V8 diff with the drum brakes. My question is can we purchase new HQ axles that have the Commodore stud pattern. Why you ask well we already have the Commodore mags and tyres, the front end conversion kit and a fully rebuilt HQ V8 differential.
Yes we could possibly purchase a V8 Commodore differential but then we will have a differential we can't use.
Alrighty then I'll see the costs involved for maybe a Commodore differential how much would we need to spend to purchase a V8 Commodore differential in excellent condition.

Sorry I forgot to past the posting. What ratio do you want? LSD? What track width? If you want a really late model one you could use a VY or VZ 1-tonner/crewman axle, come in 3.08:1 (auto) or 3.46:1 (manual and Cross6/8). Plus they are already made for

Call a diff place that specialise in conversions to see what it'll cost to get your Axles and hubs redrilled to suit commodore stud pattern.

Hi vhgrob, I'm interested why you say the Crewman diffs are rubbish as I was thinking these would be perfect less unwanted material to cut off and maybe the spring mounts could also be used. Why do they differ to say a V8 diff from a sedan and our rod w

My Cross 8 has a 3.45:1 live axle Borg Warner salisbury. Seems fine to me.

"A modern Overlander"
The VY and VZ 1-tonner and Crewman diffs are not that expensive at all. They come in 3.08 (auto) or 3.46 (manual and Cross 8). One of these should be the right width for the HQ and will simply need a bracket change and axle tube s |
