Hi guys,

This is my first post here. I'm no guru when it comes to this, but my HD X2 has got a reco'd set of carbs, done 2500 miles since full engine rebuild, headers have been ceramic coated and I'm seeing smoke through the rear vision mirror especially at night in headlights from cars behind me (can't tell what colour the smoke is when driving at night - can't see smoke in the day). I've mucked around with the air /fuel mixture to no avail. Everything is basically new or reconditioned on the motor so I can't figure out what is happening. Could it be the ceramic coating on the headers? Could it be more than just the carbs? I'm heading out to Mudgee this weekend from Sydney and don't want to be blowing smoke the whole way. Most mechanics around here don't want to touch my car as there is no computer in it and the ones that do have a waiting list of more than 2 weeks. I have been checking out the smoke when playing with the carbs tonight and it doesn't look brown but then that could be because it is cold and raining outside (boot is hanging out the end of the carport) and it may be water vapour. I have left the air/fuel screws at about 2.5 turns and haven't touched the idle screw. What else should I check to reduce the smoke? Is there anyone around the northern beaches of Sydney who can help me before Saturday?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

If it's a white smoke and only lasts a few minutes, it's probably just a build up of water. If it's constant then you've got something that needs sorting. Constant white smoke could mean coolant in the cylinders. Meaning head gasket drama usually. Check y

If you are going up the F3 I can look at them on Sat morning.

The screws you are playing with are the idle mixture screws and will have no effect when its cruising.

The carbies you have..are they your originals? because they are meant to be 149 carb
