Bear in mind the Ford forum doesn't get nearly as much traffic as this forum either.
Then again, if people just ignored the idiot posts and the moderators just delete them when they see them the idiots would grow tired of posting and not getting a bite

yes absinth, very true,
but it takes a sec to get rid of the idiot posts, some times it is difficult to figure where too draw the line,
but obvious ones, like posting porn, using childrens smutty playground language, abuse, it is not that hard,,

NO!
I vote that we keep anon posters, but their posts must be verified by a moderator (whether that be a couple of reputable guys here) BEFORE they are posted on the site. This would be for both topics and replies.

Moderators delete those posts, then the anons start another thread complaining about the mods deleting their garbage, and then making it their mission to attack that mod over & over.
So what do you do?
Delete it & get bombarded with "mods are too |

Thats what I mean by all anon posts are not displayed until a moderator checks them. No one would ever see the crap if your anon post has to pass a moderators 'check' before its posted.

there was porn posted on forum the other day 5 oclock PM was stil there at 8 PM ,then a Anonymous poster, posted a reply titled PORN saying whats this doing here and was still there 1 hour later . maybe some where to wake up the moderators would be a sta

I use this site from time to time because I own an old Holden and the young mechanic in our town doesnt always know the answers to some of the technical questions about Holdens that were made before he was born.
Whenever we hit a snag I say to him Dont

There is no perfect pill to this problem..
a moderated site can quickly become bogged down with random postings from multipul sorces or even postbots (automated spam programs), look what happend to oldholdens sheds, I wouldnt like to hazzard a guess as |

Surely an automatic word filter could be devised? It would have to be careful, if I said "use a bastard file to get the rough edges down" it is totally different to "so and so is a useless bastard", as also the problems with certain words like "Matsu****o

Also the idea of showing the ip address is a good deterrent. We used to do that.

It takes a few seconds to log-in and its not like "members" are special ... they did not pay to be members just as anons dont pay so why make out it is a big deal ?
I can understand comments regarding user frustration at porn etc. and |
