hi lads, i amtrying to start my 138 grey motor which hasnt been running for over 10 years. as far as i know it was running fine until it sat in a garage. i have changed the plugs, points leads, cleared the fuel lines, re-coed the carby..i had a auto elec check it ut, and he said it should start....but...she kicks over, occaisionally she fires up, (putt putt putt putt), till battery goes flat. then dosent want to go until I have a go the next day, and the same thing happens. \ any hints...

I cant remember if 138's have hydraulic lifters...but check if you have full oil pressure first.Lifters that have been sitting for years will bleed off and without o/pressure will have trouble opening valves. Worst case scenario,valves that remained in t

Hi Edmundo, Several things to try, (1)Does the accelerator pump squirt fuel into the carby throat when you pump the carby? If not then you may have the power valve mixed up with the accelerator pumps valve, as they both look similar (power valve has

grey motors are solid lifters as said make sure you have new fuel and if so take rocker cover off and check for stuck valves, could be up to 4 stuck

sounds to me more like a fuel problem get some carby cleaner and take the top off the carby and give it a good spray. Also check the condenser in the distributor and the coil. A dead/tired condenser can give those symtoms.
