I wont bother with the legallities of the sale of tags (although this one does have a body included..sorta) since so many think the practice is okay and i'll just be flamed for it (can only hope it's them that lose the next Monaro stolen).

just a thought though, Would Byron or warren be interested in collecting the tag/firewall data and recording it on the Monaro register ? Be interesting to hear the numbers surface one day in the future to hear the story of who got burnt by how many dollars and how. Anyway, enough from me, Here's the Tag trip in question...

Edit...I notice the firewall number has been cut out of that shell.

Yes the practice of removing tags from cars, maybe the Police might record something so that when someone goes to register it they have to prove hey turned that heap back into a car, rather than "borrow" another body.

The body doesn't look like its past the stage of being fixed as you could sacrifice a base model Monaro and use it for repair sections, panels, glass, trim, etc. It wouldn't be cheap but definitely worth doing to save an 818.

Cheers

So with no chassis number in the firewall of this shell (theres a great hole where they were! And its not rust!) there really wouldnt be anything concrete to say those tags even belong to that shell, as he could be quoting the chassis number off the comp

I would like to know what happened to the bodyshell the ID plates came from. The 'shell'that comes with the ID plates is certainly not an 81837 shell. For starters there is no hump on the fuel tank mounting flange and no speedometer cable hole in the fire

The plates will certainly be sold off line now that he would have contact with the bidders.
