I have a 16 year old daughter who wants an FC to EK Ute. For her safety I was wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to fit a VS Commodore Column and steering wheel with all of the airbag bits and make it functional?

The air bag is set off by a number of sensors that indicate the car is in an accident that requires them to activate. As a VS wil collapse differently to an FE then the sensors would need to be recalibrated to the FE body. (ie several crash test mules)

airbags do more harm than good. they can kill you and they always burn your face/eyes sometimes very badly

Airbags were invented to save the lives of lazy a$$ americans who can't figure out that putting on a seatbelt saves your life. They basically set off an explosion in your face, hoping that you are far enough back that it doesn't seriously damage you. An |

Airbags were invented to save the lives of lazy a$$ americans who cant figure out that putting on a seatbelt saves your life. They basically set off an explosion in your face, hoping that you are far enough back that it doesnt seriously damage you. And |

Ive been in a major head on prang (just under 12 months back) and the seat-belt pretensioners, plus a "realistic" seating position saw me stop before any part of my face hit the airbag. In fact, I watched (It was surreal - like slow motion) my glasses co |

I've still got scars on my legs where they hit under the dash of a HJ ute when I was in a head on. I saw the car coming and was ready for it with both feet planted hard on the brake pedal and floor (I was almost stopped by the time the other car hit me - |

A mates old man hit a roo. he was not happy that the air bags went off. he said the roo was one thing. but the air bags going off, was the worse of it. could not breath from the gas. and to steer the car. was the main problem. and then in the cost of new

Yes, Rosenberg, that's a big point - to me, the gas is like copping a gobfull of bushfire smoke.
It sears your throat. I must have drunk at least 1.5L of water at the scene before my throat felt better.

A mate of mine (Graham the Snake) lost control of his new VY on a dirt road and slid into a tree front first... only minor damage and the air bag did not deploy.... The car was still ok to drive and he continued on his way for about 10 minutes... when BAN |

A lot of effort for an air bag although I do remember readign ones that Momo were doign an aftermarket one but I'm not sure if that was to fit up to an existing system.
for my money I would fit it up wit ha colapsable sterrign colum and well engneared |

I think cadillac offered an air bag in late 60s or earlier 70,s as an option that was not popular at all.
