VIN numbers as called by the registry authorites werent used until post VL Commodore. Prior to that it was a chassis number. The VIN number on HK-VL is the skinny plate and which has no correlation to the chassis number. From 1/1/70 ADR plates were introd

Some states used the engine number some used chassis number. This is why there is such a problem.

VIN as quoted today is ISOVIN, which as Byron pointed out is 1988 on, ie late Camira and VN.

The problem they have is they know these cars are worth a

Just a bit of an up date. Vic Roads still want to see more proof that Holden produced the ID tags in this manner. Holden them self were totally useless. Why they even bother with a customer assistance line in beyond me.
