Hi All,
I have a base model hq factory v8 (253) monaro coupe with a very good body, interior and the original engine. I am considering of converting to a mockup GTS.
I guess it all comes down to personal preference but Please give me your opinion, should I keep the car in the original base model look or mockupas to look like a GTS?

Depends on wether you are after an investment or a car you want to drive. Id go the GTS route.

base model HQ monaros are very rare for the very reason your contemplating , there wouldn`t be many base models left. GTS coupes are every where at the car shows , yours would stand out being a base monaro.

i agree with cloudy to point..... if it were a 6cyl base model i would make a gts clone but as yours is v8 I would go original...
it could also come down to how much you want to spend.... it may cost more to do the clone in the long run as gts bits are

I would go with the original base model, as mentioned by cloudy, you see a lot of GTS's and LS models at shows cant say I have seen to many base model V8 cars.

Why not take out and store the stock base model instruments and fit a GTS dash/clock/radio without butchering any wiring. That way you can always put it back to stock but enjoy the extra gauges etc while you're driving it. You could also change the grille

Do whatever you want. Personally I'd leave it stock as a rock but put a small block and TH400 in it IF it was an auto, and connect it up to the factory column shift using standard Holden bits. Fit power steer and that's it. If it was a 3 speed manual i'd |
