Bloody idle problem, again. Heres the short version.

I set everything, no apparent air leaks, all's well, idling beautifully.

Turn the car off. Come back a few hours later....idle's like ****.

This happens no matter how many times i reset it and get it idling smoothly.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!

One point...came home last night, car's idling ****...as i bumped over a rut in the yard, it suddenly became smooth for a few seconds, then went **** again. But if it's sometihng that moves around causing the problem, how does it happen when the car just sits still?

It's is a red 202, mildy worked, mild cam, standard 2inch stromberg.

What type of fuel filter do you have, is the outlet pointing down? Crap from the tank can settle in outlet while the engines off.

Both valid ideas.

However, I just stripped and rebuilt the carby today, using a new kit. Filters an extra inline jobby before the factory glass top. Actually...i put that in for fear the tank had debris in it. Ive since pulled and cleaned the tank...an

hey hq,,
as i mentioned fuel filter because,
fuel filters do get crap in them, and when revving pressure keeps them clear, then when you stop, crap settles, and blocks fuel,,,
i would try this first, might be easy fix?
cheers

most likely some goo in the idling jets, run some carby cleaner through the float bowl (take the top of and let it soak in for a bit)
also could have water in the fuel line that can be a bugger to identify, run some metho through the line from tank to c

Manual. And problem was there before, and after the carby rebuild.

When i say i stripped the carby, i stripped it, cleaned all jets, blew out all passages. But ill soak more cleaner through it incase theres a buildup of something.

Had teh same problem. Fault was caused by bits of rubber from new hose lines blocking float open or closed. Put in genuine HQ metal prefilter to protect the WW. Replace the new fuel line with another new one, and re cleaned carby of all crap seen or unsee

More good ideas to try.

Had a discovery today....i THINK this is an emissions carby, not pre emissions. It has a valve in the top of the bowl, anti-percolation valve? And that's meant to be actuated by the tip of the accelerator pump plunger. So, if th

What kind of ignition system are you running on the car a points dissy or a electronic system.
A lot of times what seems to be a carby problem ends up being nothing to do with the carby at all.
But a electrical issue.
On saying this when you did the ca

I've had the sticking advance, fixed that. Car's original points style. Everything's new but the dizzy and coil themselves.

Good ideas, thanks.

I'll give the PCV a good check right now.

I didn't soak the carby (my bad), but did blow out all ports
