Hi all,

I have a HK ute with a 350 chev/TH350 box ready to drop in soon. I know the HK/T/G powerglide crossmember will fit, but is there any difference between the 6 cyl and 8 cyl version?

Also if spacers are needed, what are these made from and are they readily available or will I need to make them?

Cheers

The V8 have a step down unit on the front. A fellow in SA makes them.

There are also two spacers on the V8, between the crossmember and the body, they are 1/8th thick and the fellow does those also. (HKTG Parts recovery)

Just to add to Warrens info, 6cyl and V8 Powerglide are different in the rear extension housing hence use a different mount as discussed above.
You can use a HT-HG trimatic T-bar and V8 Powerglide speedo cable, but youll need to drill a new hole in the f

Are the powerglide and trimatic crossmembers different?

If I was to use the HT-HG trimatic one, do I need the V8 version or will the 6cyl version do?

hg lover, There is some confusion in what has been said to this point. For your HK ute you will need an HK only crossmember as the HT and HG types will not go anywhere near fitting into your car. The best place to look is in HK Broughams as they all have

Thanks Holden Musclecar Fan,

So it looks like Im after a HK powerglide v8 crossmember.

Bundybluedog - maybe it would be easiest to put some pics up of the crossmembers you have and maybe Byron or someone can identify them.

Well spotted Mike. I totally missed hg lover's statement in his first post ie "I know the HK/T/G powerglide crossmember will fit". I just read "HK ute" and "powerglide crossmember" and went from there. From Warren's reply he did exactly the same.
