Simply put...do you think that twin strombergs on an X2 manifold will be excessive on my motor? Red 202, 40thou over, ported head, bigger valves, extractors and straight through exhaust. Cam is 28/60, 270 duration, .4205 lift.
Reason i ask is that even with a single 2inch, it fuels up on choke, doesnt run well at all. When it's warm, it's sweet and there's no indicator of running lean or rich.
All carbs are stock, no changes to jetting.
Cheers. |

the trick is to mix up one cup of beach sand with 4 litres of sea water. start the car and rev to about 3000 rpm with the air cleaners off. quickly pour the mixture down the carb throats. this will clean the inside of the engine and solve your fuel consum

Hi HQforme.
The X2 set-up is not necessarily overkill, but they are a pain to keep in tune. You are better off with a WW twin-barrel Stromberg.
What sort of 2" carby are you running, the only commonly available 2" is an SU. If you are talking about |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

It's a stock stromberg, with about a 2inch horn, which i mistakenly call a 2inch carby. I do that often. My bad!
The fuel problem seems choke related as the car is beautifully responsive off choke.
I'd like the twins for the look of it really. I'm n |

you really have to design the carbs cam and head as a unit otherwise you end up with some awful combination that doesn't work. Decide just what you want to achieve, like performance motor, round town not important, fuel economy not important, or perform

Im assuming your using 2 X standard coke can stromies off a conventionl 6cyl red motor? in wich case you are to big and this is why it responds better with the choke on
Persoaly I love the X2 look and terry is 100% corect they are a barsted to tune, bu

I havent got the twins on yet! Haha. But yeah, stock standards, on my single now, and on the twins. As it is, it struggles WITH the choke on...stutters, its all fuelled up i think. Again, runs beautifully off choke.
The twins are in good nick, apparent |
