This maybe a question for Dr Terry.

I am trying to find out how long HG commercials were being made alongside HQ sedans. When was their, ie HG, final build month?

The reason being is that I have been offered a HG ute built in September 1971, when acc to Dr Terrys book, 50 years of Holden, HQ's were released in July 1971.

How do I find out how many HG commercials's were built to the end?

I have this noted down somewhere ie when HQ commercials were released. I think it was about 3 months after the rest of the range, but as you say Dr Terry will be the best person to confirm. There probably won't be any details on how many were built though

Hi tranx.

Yes, HQ commercials weren't released until Nov 1971, 5 months after the passenger range. These late HG commercials also had 173 & 202 engines with an HG sump etc. & unique engine number prefixes.

Holden did this on several occasions. FJ ra

All,

Does an HG commercial built after the start of HQ production get a 202 badge on the end gate when that engine was optioned? From dozens I have seen in the metal, I have yet to see one with a 202 badge on it.

Terry, Ben - another question on this topic:

When HQ was released and HG commercials continued i've made the following assumptions about the engine number sequences (I'm currently writing more text for my website and this stuff is part of it):
