just a query

should an 11qt stato engine, engine number be 9 or 10 characters long? and also can anyone give me the date for date code that looks to be 11(or17)d5? cheers

A Statesman engine of that age should have 10 characters, but AFAIK early (1971) engines could have as little as 8, e.g. 11QT1234, which would have been the 2 hundred & 34th engine built in that series (they began at 1001).

Thanks a bunch mate! well gave it a clean before and looks to be 10 (ones just faint as hell), 11QT8347**... does that sound about rite in regards to april 75?

I have 1 engine no. for Apr 75 built car QT630867 (very early Apr if not Apr 1st) engine would have been cast Feb or Mar 75

cheers bud but i was after the first 3 numbers from an engine cast in april 05. Thanks anyway. Pain in the rear trying to find a matching year engine!
