Redbook cant be trusted! They have so much wrong info on there its not funny.

The VN & VM prefixes refer to the HSV and Holden versions of the 5.0L V8.

All Holden VT V8s were VM prefix, including the SS.
HSV versions had the VN prefix.

Model year code runs from Sept 1st of the previous year, to Aug 31.

So.....

1998 model year = 1st Sept 1997 to 31st Aug 1998.

V = 1997 (ie 1/09/1996 > 31/08/1997)
W = 1998 (ie 1/09/1997 > 31/08/1998)
X = 1999 (ie 1/09/1998 > 31/08/1999
Cheers,

Mick

9C1 is simply the option code for Police Equipment.
BT1 was the predecessor to 9C1, so you could almost say its a BT1.....

The option pack is just like many other option codes Holden have used, like XW4 (Vacationer), XV2 (Walky), A9L (HDT Group A), XU
