The light has just gone green and the right foot has found the floorboards. Lets race. I love the list in the latest Wheels magazine. Each car nominated by the editorial team is accurately representative of the peak example at the given time period they were current. The Holden cars as usual are a great mix of the variations that have been produced by the company. The first in the line-up is the HT GTS 350. I remember ordering mine after seeing the commercial at the movies. Mention should have been made also that the HT Monaro advertisment is the best along with the car. That Sebring Orange car racing across the lunar surface is just out of this world. And the shots of the interior with the glorious orange and black houndstooth with the hot couple are burned into my mind for eternity. As I eluded to in a previous post, the little XU-1 Torana was fine when it was wound up and this is why it was able to win at Bathurst in 1972. Lucky that the GT-HOs had brake issues that year. I'm a little upset about the L34 model not making the list but I accept the fact that the diff was the biggest let down of that car. I would love to own that Valencia A9X. Great read from Peter Robinson on the A9X. Glad that the Brock cars made the list as if it wasn't for these cars then the Australian musclecar as we all know it would have died long ago. I can't comment on the HSV stuff as I have never owned one.

Love to talk about these cars so chip in.

Will get a copy tomorrow and have a read. Sounds good. It's funny how often Ford fans bring up the rain and brake trouble thing about 1972 and the tyre troubles in 1969. How quickly they forget 1973 where the only thing that cost Holden and Brock's XU-1 v

You are mistaken with your comments HK1837. The tyre issue in 1969 only applied to the works team cars and not the Moffat/Hamilton car. Moffat knows how to look after a car and his tyres had nothing wrong with them. Neither did the McPhee car. The 1974 ra

I'm not mistaken and do understand the 1969 tyre issue, it's my Ford fan mates that raise it and won't listen (I think their point is Moffat should have won as he was pulled in for tyres because of the failures on the other cars when he didn't need them).

I had a read of the Wheels magazine. Great reading, but like Warren has been slammed elsewhere for the A9X book, there are also what appear at first reading to be some errors (possibly ommissions) two of which I have listed below. Someone please correct m

OK, I think I see what they might mean. Remember how Harry Firth? identified some problems with the early cars (after Sandown?) and the cars were modified by the Holden dealer when they went in for their next service? Like the holes cut in the radiator su

Hi Guys.

Yes, Byron that's the 're-work' that Holden Muscle Fan is talking about.

I think part of the problem here is referring to this as a 'Bathurst Pack'.

AFAIK, this just brought the early production cars up to spec for homologation. The prod

Yes I suppose it's hard to refer to this stuff as a Bathurst pack as it would have made it's way onto all production cars, sort of like how the LJ XU-1's evolved. However people still refer to 1972 and 1973 Bathurst XU-1's so I suppose some licence with t

On the HT 350 "Bathurst", there was a short time when there were a "different" set of heads available. When I approached Harry about these he got up me like a rat up a drain pipe, "no such thing as fuellie heads, we never used such a thing!"

I then sai

I think these are the same heads listed for the type 1 327 in the blue HK Parts catalogue. Possibly also what got Des West into trouble at Bathurst 1968?

HK1837, You sure have a knack of going off at a tangent all the time. Ill start a new topic on the GTS 350 horsepower issue as it isnt relevant here. With regard to the EB XR6 Falcon as identified in the September Wheels, I think you should go and read th
