Hoping someone here night be able to help.

Are the GXLs collectable?

My mum is thinking of selling her 351 GXL and is unsure what to ask for it (she was offered $5k but I thought this might be a bit low). She has owned it from new and has all the books. Dad serviced the car every 5000km and it now has a heap on the clock. It does not blow any smoke and has only travelled about half the Ks his HQ 253 had before its engine was rebuilt. The car was used for real estate and most of the Ks were put on in the first 15 years.

The car has been retrimmed in the original material back in the late 80s, I purchased a few things for the car in the early 80s as I was having trouble sourcing stufff for my HK resto so anything I saw for a GXL in my travels I picked up, including trim.

The car is white, black trim, auto, black vinyl roof, sunroof, air and steer. The engine has never been apart and has every clip etc there. Dad did try a performance upgrade, turned the air cleaner upside down.. Has had three minor accidents in its life. Has hardly been thrashed. It has had the right foot jammed into the floor boards on many occassions (I am guilty of many of those) but never done a burn out or anything silly like that.

Has been resprayed and the small a small amopunt of rust removed about 5 years ago, since then has virtually sat in the garage, as mum does not drive much anymore.

What should she ask for it???

Warren you will get more than 5K for a 351 GXL. Especially if it has the factory sun roof. Put it on Ebay with a reserve of $6500 and see what happens. And yes, put the air cleaner back on the right way. Where in Aus is the car located? You can put p

Have recommended ebay for it, but dad just wants to sell it. I shall tell him to take the $5k. Oh and yes its an XC, they did not make them in any other model. It was also the update, but for a GXL that means very little.

Thanks fellas.

Well he said he will keep it, not worth selling, just keep it as a spare car.

Unfortunately mum does not drive much for the last 15 years, so probably only done 20,000km since they sold the business, but car was refreshed before they sold it. They are

You let it rust Docktor and you are going to need a scalpel to remove the steel cap boot. Put it in a shed somewhere. Love the old GXLs. They were such a comfy car to ride in on a long trip. Especially the last of them.
