Terry, Mick

Been investigating WB numbers. I have an engine number off a 10/80 1 owner WB as WR6274x. This is interesting as this would appear to mean that WB didnt follow on from VB. If the VC Commodore numbers run in the WB series then the series cannot follow on from VB as VB reached around 95,000. How high did Zx series HZ get to? I wonder if WB followed HZ and VC/VH tagged along, and that same sequence became VK, VL onwards?
Anyone else have any original WB engine numbers still in their original cars? Or any very early VC or very late VB?

Byron the highest I have listed is ZR98794 Feb 1980, I have not seen this car to verify the number. Running the numbers on HZ production 154000 from Oct 77 Qx90xxxx this number does seem too high. Considering Zx series started around Oct 78. The next high

Thanks for that Leroy. I have a ZT53971 which I place as a 10/78 and ZR48771 as 9/78. Dont forget also that auto 6cyl UC Toranas existed in the Zx series so this would account for some.

Hi Byron.

That may answer some of the questions.

The official date for the commencement of the Zx prefix was 1st Sept 1978, yet you have 2 engines there with numbers of 48000 in the same month & 53000 one month later. 50000 engine in one month seems

In Oct 78 I have QR998160 , ZR9547, and ZL9924 these are for cars not engines. I have ZL45155 and ZL51479 as Jul 79. I think your numbers are a little too early.

I stuffed up, should be 79 not 78 so that all fits. Seems odd that ZR9547 and ZL9924 are in Oct 78 right after QR998160? Something wierd was going on. I know more numbers are needed but if the log booked 10/80 WB with WR6274x is representative of the WB n
