Hi Guys, easy one for you all. Without pulling the axles and diff centre out and counting teeth, is there an easy way to tell the diff ratio by spinning a wheel and counting revolutions of the yoke? It is in an LC Torana, 6cyl 3 speed manual. I was going to sell it on evil bay and wanted to know the ratio as I am sure to be asked.
Thanks for your help......Brian

yep thats how you do it, the dust cover for the pinion bearing may also have the ratio on it but it also may have been changed in the last 40 years.
Havent you learnt anything from that guy that gives sermons at church?...Captain whats his name.

First check the dust cover.

Then... Pull the axles out, then centre out and check the ratio on the crownwheel to make sure.

If your going to sell it to someone else on the internet, then you better make sure that it IS what you say it IS.

Cheers.

Was thanked: 5 time(s) in 5 post(s)
if the ratio is not on the dust cover you could take the speedo drive out of the gearbox and check the colour, each diff ratio/wheel size combination has a differnt colour and number of teeth to match
then post it here and someone will know the ratio
