Just checked my ZH 351 engine oil pressure today as I have lost power? and have a piston slap noise ( I think ). in my engine.
It runs straight LPG and was running about 18-20 degrees advance but I had to knock it back as this noise kept appearing. I have reset my tappets 5 times, replaced hydraulic lifters but am convinced it is piston slap. The noise varies under different loads on the throttle.
Checked my oil pressure and it is 65-70 psi. Hot Cold Did not vary???
Has anyone got any suggestions before I pull the old girl (15,000km on the donk) down. Thanks in advance.

A big end will rattle on cruise and shut up under load or deceleration.

If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you.

Fast response, you must be bored too. Heard them before but this is a different sound. It is not so much of a rattle but more of a tick/slap noise but too solid to be a lifter noise. I wonder if my top end is over-oilling with such high pressure at the se

Why not try the ol screwdriver handle to your ear and put the blade on the motor in different spots to see where the noise is coming from???

what condition are the heads in? Could even be a worn out valve guide, how did you set your tappets do you have adjustable roller rockers? These are not adjustable standard. Piston slap is more common on forged pistons generaly when the engine is cold. Ab

Yeah, I have tried to isolate the noise with a stethoscope, sounds more internal. Ran the engine with rocker covers off and getting plenty of oil to the top end. It has yella terra roller rockers on it and the heads are 15,000km old. The engine does not s

Hey mate just to let you know, your oil pressure sounds like it's fine, 70psi is about where they run, that's the spec in my original ford workshop manual, does not say hot, cold or even what rpm. I had a weird matalic kinda noise in my clevo and it almos

I had to knock my static timing back to 10 degrees, it used to run 18 but the noise got worse. LPG runs no vacuum advance. The noise appears to be at 1 certain cruising speed or under hard acceleration in high revs. I have had 2 sets of lifters in the engi

I notice this thread was about Clevo Oil pressure, so I thort I'd throw this in. Bluddy oil pressure! Took my rod for a run today and left home with 60psi, limped home with 10!. Funny it has 10-20psi at idle then drops off when you lift the revs. I'm
