Looking for some help/advice from someone who knows their stuff about HQ GTS Coupes!! The car was originally etruscan gold but is sitting in a paint shop with a fresh coat of 2 pac holden Fusion gold on it. So it is not the original colour but I decided to at least keep it gold and it reallt does look fantastic. Unfortunatley some mis communication between myself and painter has led to the spray job having being finished with out him removing the original chrome sill nibs attached to body. I find those sill covers very tacky and do not want to put them back on. So my problem is 1. a major respray to blend the 2 pac fusion after grinding off nibs etc (expensive). 2. Get nibs removed fill holes and blackout (Cheap).
I know the colour isnt original as mentioned but I have made an attempt to keep it close by staying gold so I didnt want to stray too far from factory. So may main question is what blackouts did the HQ coupes come out with? Bonnets, Boots, Sills under bumpers etc. I have seen every combo and no consistency, some have chrome some dont.
My favourite look is the complete bonnet, boot underside blackout and feel it would suit the fusion but dont really want to make something that never was.
ANy help will be much appreciated. CHRIS

1971 hq gts coupes had a blacked out sill exactly where the sill moulds from your ls are....as for removal of the nibs get vice grips and twist them off..leaves it cleaner than grinding the crap out of them..as for blackouts in general,71 72 only had the Edited by user Thursday, 23 October 2008 7:39:30 PM(UTC)
