Hi Steve.
The 'Diff Ratio'is simply the number of teeth on the crown wheel (the driven gear) divided by the number of teeth on the pinion (the drive gear).

Dr. Terry is right, though I think what you want to know is how will changing a diff ratio affect your driving.
Lets say you have a ratio of 3.08 to 1 or 3.08:1.
When I blew my 3.08 diff I put in a 3.55 (3.08 ratio diffs were very rare and mor

3.73, 3.07 so on and so on. this number(s) represents how many times the pinion gear (drive shaft)turns to one rev. of the ring gear(tires) so 3.73 to 1
