G'day

Ive got a old xy falcon and the horn has started to go on the blink, it will work and then it won't, if the car isn't on and you push the horn it will work, however if you have the lights on and the car is turned off it wont, however when its on and the lights are also on it wont work but if you rev it a bit for a couple of seconds it might.

when its not working properly, you can still hear it clicking ! its real weird, is the horn stuffed (its the orignal unit) ? or is a electrical issue ?

Cheers guys.

Sounds electrical to me. Try running a relay to the horn. Over time the wiring builds up a larger resistence and things like this happen. Headlights playing up is another sign of aging wires.

Have you checked the voltage to the horn when applied, tried another earth or checked your alternator charge rate?
You could also bench test the horn by itself to isolate your problem.
