Gday Guys,
Just saw this hk monaro on ebay $and couldnt work out if this body id
plate was correct for a melbourne built hk, it looked like the ones used in the HT series. I refered to the bible (the monaro story/facts)and it doesnt match up, the order in which the HT ID plate reads, eg:
model no,
body no
trim,
paint,
top.
The same as the one 4sale.
And the HK melb built states by the bible it never had model no just,
Body,
Trim,
Paint,
Insert,
Top.

If anyone could shed some light on the this matter to confirm this as being and original melbourne built hk or what??
Cheers.

For starters the tags dont match the body. Quoted chassis number is an Adelaide number. Without seeing the full PSN or BODY number it is not possible to know for sure, but very early HTs had HK style ID plates, so I suppose very late HKs migt have had HT

Some Adelaide HKs have HT tags, some Brisbane HTs have HK tags, some prototype Adelaide HTs have HK tags.

These are the only exceptions that I know of.

Some early HT Pagewood also have HK tags. I also left out the word "some" in my above post between the words "but" and "very.

By the way. I know it was built in adelaide. Warrick yellow.307, Powerglide. 10 bolt. I want to find out the selling dealer. How many 307 hk gts yellow ones were built. I found out that the car has not been registered since about 1987. I found it in a bar

1173 is Warwick Yellow.
18Y is Parchment and black interior.
Wait a while and all may be revealed on HK GTS production. At this stage there are no records of how many of each colour, but apparantly red and yellow were the predominant original colours.

Where I lived at the time blue was the most common colour along with the yellow. Silver Mink was next, not too many red though.

Thanks guys. Parchment is white im guessing, with black carpets. This would mean that it is not a very rare type. Still, I think it is worth going on with it. Also, under the bonnet seal along the top of firewall, there is writing. The car has its origin

both holden and ford have virtually no idea of what was built, when it was built, how it was built, and with what options it had in the early days. all they know is what you tell them when you are talking to them on the phone, then they post you out a gen

Greetings,
There is nothing wrong with the ID plates. Part of the identifying numbers are covered but this would be done to prevent identity theft. You cant always believe what you read.
