The only SS that had a 308 in it was the prototype owned by John Bagshaw sales director at Holden at the time.
The article says that Karrens SS was the first one off the line but from which plant I am not sure.
I am told she still owns the car now to th

Does anyone really care about the ins and outs of Selmonts anyway? I mean a 253 Belmont in lairy colours is hardly gonna set the world on fire is it?

Yes in road test photo 2 of 43 it looks like a HT-G eng bay.
But i am sure some of the 1st HQs had the old filler breather cap in the timing cover.

I think it was in the category of valiant VG 245 2bbl pacers, and XA GS 250 2V. the HQ SS was holdens answer to try to win volume in this market.
As a HQ SS was about $3200 and a 350 GTS was about $4700.
Some thing like $ 17000 more in todays money.

There were 2800 SSs made, common consensus is 1600 were made in the first batch August and September of 1972 and then a second batch of 1200 were made in November and December of 1972.
Of which 2561 were sold in 1972 and 239 were sold 1973.

Hey Mingswood,

There is nothing worse than some clown spruking off about how good his ride is and how every other car is no good so prove it mate or shut up! You could also try and join the forum instead of being an Anonymous Poster and just jawing off
