Gday Fella's,

The suspension on my HG ute, mostly on the back is lacking. Although it seems hard, when you put any kind of decent weight on the tray, it doesn't take much to rub the back tyres.
I don't have rear shock absorbers, just leaf springs.
The questions I have are:
Can I put shockies in the back, will they fit?
Should I look at replacing the Leaf springs or will a set of shockies make up for it?
If I need to replace the leaf springs, how hard are they to get for a '71 HG?

Any help most appreciated.

as far as i know your ute should have rear shocks. springs are easy to get, you can get a pair of king springs through supercheap for about $260.

Sorry JayHK69, thanks for your help. I definately dont have shockies, just had a look. That would definately explain the suspension problem. Ill get that one sorted this week! This is my first old holden, in fact first holden ever so learning as I go.

Its the springs that support the car. The shockies just stop it bouncing when you go over a bump. If the rear droops enough to touch the tyres, shockies are not going to stop that. You need new springs.
