Are the speedo (driven) gears the same between top loader and other manual tranmissions (single rail, etc).
I've recently swapped in a set of 3.7's into my fairlane (has a top loader in it) and need a 21tooth speedo gear so the speedo reads correct. I see fomoco.com.au has 21T listed for single rail but not top loader, i thought they used the same gear? anyone know the answer?
thanks, NAthan

Borg Warner gears are different to Ford gears

The BW gear sits on top of the output shaft while on the Ford boxes (C4, Toploader etc) sit under the output shaft

They are not interchangeable - you'll need a gear to suit a Ford Box

Thanks ZC for the info.
It drives alot better now, its actually possible to do a hillstart now without having to ride the clutch... Still, its about as fast as a 2ton car with a stock 351, pretty slow... Does about 3000rpm at 100kmh, dont use it on hte

2ton was a bit of an exaggeration, lol. I think standard kerb weight for a 351 marquis is about 1780kg. Bit lighter if you dont have elec seats, etc. The later ones are a bit heavier as they have intrusion bars in the doors, early ones dont.
