Hi All.First time member, I have a mint original HQ I cannot seem to find any Holden history about this model that was "badged" Chev for what ever reason. It has a Chev 350 coupled to a turbo 400 auto and a Chev 10" diff all original. Can anybody help me with info also looking for 2nd hand parts.

Call Greg on 0249598999. He is currently wrecking one of these. Its an export car constructed by Holden and probably assembled overseas in South Africa or maybe New Zealand. Diff is probably a Chevy 12 bolt. Dr Terry will be able to tell you exactly what |

love the news photos, where aren the last one,s from which country? what engines did they have in the wagons? was the diff a 12 bolt? on the 10 bolts they used here, were they made for us or did they come over as a centre with no axles and tubes?

The last brochures are South Africian, written in Dutch.
Wagon was fitted with 350 Chev, same as the De-ville.
Diffs used were 12 Bolt Eaton Posi-traction.
10 Bolts used for Australian market were Salsbury limited slip, but Chev diffs have been

OzChevy, yours is a SA exmple isnt it? I think the one Greg has was a NZ example as from memory it had a 10-bolt in it.

byron..cant remember if i told you this but..last all holden day i got talking to a guy with a statesman from a canberra car club that has worked his life in a holden dealer there..he knew the car exactly and said to me that it had never left australia an |

Its a GMH Adelaide assembled, exported to Capetown South Africa, it belonged to the NZ Embassy, and the NZ Ambassadore bought the car for his own personal use upon resignation from his duties there. He in turn shipped it back to NZ, and it was

Greg, yours is a real mystery, I couldnt make out anything of the build plate on yours. From memory - yours was H-5 Sydney assembled, which is really odd because to my knowledge of them, they were all from South Australia including the CKDs.

Petus. i am not to sure on the 350 v8 being in the wagon, in south africa but they did come with the holden 308 v8 option. and a 230 & 250 chevy 6 cyl. the 250 auto has a 2.92 diff ratio. and the manual has a 3.23 ratio. with them ratios maybe they have

I would think not. GMH have an assembly plant in Port Elizabeth South Africa.
Chev Statesman was a very different situation, Most assembled in Adela

Hi ozchevy.
I know its only a small point but none of these Chevs are actually badged Statesman, are they?
We have been this this before, but GM-H used Statesman as the brand & DeVille & Caprice etc. as the model names. Arent these cars called Chev |

terry,the one i possess which is now a wreck was only badged chevrolet...i also found from date coding that the car appears to be a 8/71 which would be correct as it doesnt have the dash pad metal strip...
