It looks like the alternator in my EF wagon is on the way out. Lots of whirring noises and very hot and smokey. I have a EB parts car and I was wondering if anyone knows if the EB alternator will fit into the EF? Does it have the same serpetine belt that runs everything? And also; any hints on how to get the alternator off without having to disturb the steering pump and all the belt attachmenst? Thanks in advance.

The EB runs a v-belt and EF runs the serpentine belt. If they are the same alternator you could swap pulleys over I guess but You would have to make sure they are the same.

EB alternators are not driven by a V belt they are driven by a multi ribbed belt similar to a serpentine belt but its nowhere near as wide. At least this is the case for EB2's EA's used a V belt.
As 302SB said you could change the pulley to suit If |

Where are you? It was my battery that went "phlatt" so I now have a spare alternator. I also have a EB one as well.
