Brother just acquired a 1969 Capri and trying to work out if it a GT or not. The tag doesnt give u much to go by which is positioned on the passenger side firewall and body number stamped on radiator support.
Unsure if any Capri's were built here maybe Sydney as they built the small cars their also. Or this one could have been imported from England.
If anyone can decypher some numbers let me know and ill get some off the tags soon
Thanks
Paul

The third and fourth digit on the VIN should be one of the following;

Capri
14 = Capri Deluxe Sedan. (CK build)
17 = Capri GT Sedan. (CK build)
30 = Capri XL Sedan. (CK build)

Thanks Paul,
3rd and 4th digit is 17 so it is a GT.
Is there anyway to find out if it was a 4 cyl or a V6 as it has a windsor in it now

Much appreciated

Paul

V6 Capris saw the light of day in early 1970 so if you have a 69 model it's a 1600GT.

If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you.
