My onging noise has settled. It only comes when the motors warm and been running a while. Sounds like valvetrain, and yet i can't find any slop, anywhere.

And would you believe, it didn't rear it's head during the dyno session at a well-respected race shop, so they couldn't offer me much advice of course.

Yeah, good thought. I considered oil viscosity. Pressure remains good, but maybe its a tad thin, would that explain my slightly wavering oil pressure (always plenty of pressure though) even though ive inspected the pump and its fine? I think ive got Penri

Heres a thought...excessive lifter preload?

It backfires every now and then when i blip on a downshift, and this is a new cam remember, changing that can change preload. We took 20thou off the bottom of the rocker bridges when i first built the motor,

Im a bit suss about Penrite myself, as it is too similarly named to the American Pennzoil which is a long established quality oil. Penrite has been around for a while now but I think their initial marketing strategy was to market on the back of the simila

Yeah, you gotta try something ,but only change one thing at a time cause if it aint broke dont fix it ,if the noise changes itll give you a clue as in what its connected to.(what youve changed )but id do the rockers first. They always seem involved alot of

Ive been running Penrite in all my engines for 20+yrs now. Havent ever had any oil related failures or problems.
The 377sbc in my race car used to go thru the finish line at around 8200rpm and occassionally it must have had a bit of oil surge and the oil
