Hi all. Could someone tell me what the future holds for a 308 which has been stroked to 383? Im wondering if this means the engine life is now limited, and also if it could be returned to a more normal daily driver setup? Well not daily as that would be too expensive and you cant bore backwards, but maybe a weekender without getting arrested..? It also has a B&M Shifter and NOS Set Up and produces 330HP at Wheels (with out NOS) It has a Rev Limiter and Race Tacho too so that might give an indication of what its been through.. It is the original block for the car so it would be great to keep it but i dont know a lot about what happens once you start messing with engines too much... If that makes sense.

The cubic size of the engine isnt going to kill it. Itll be one of the following (assuming parts used are OK):

Poor oiling (bad pump or oil not changed);
Insufficient cooling;
Revved too high;
Bad fuel (causing pinging);
Incorrect spark;
Too much

Gday Jim. Its in a brock commodore. So as Byron touched on, yes it would be a valuable block. The reason im looking into it, is that obviously on a brock, the engine is one of the key features, so if its too far gone from what brocky originally intended t

Yes, find out who built it and what components were used. As long as the block hasnt been heavily decked it will easily go back to a 304/308.

No-one will know whats been done inside the block if you take it back to a 304/308. Nor does it matter.

If it was built by Brock as a brand new stroker it would have been a 350, not a 355. The only problem leaving it as a big cube engine is if the car is an aussie 4spd!
