HI ! all. Can anyone tell me when the last Aussie vehicle was released fitted as standard with a chev motor?. prior to commodore, what size was it ?. Incidently when was the 1st Aussie vehicle released as standard with a chev motor ?. What vehicle , what size motor?. How many different size & configeration & different vehicles were chev motors fitted as standard to Aussie vehicles? Well there were 2 x 327 motors, and 2 vehicles at least ie holden car, chev truck. Oh Sorry, that is...V8...chev motors..in Aussie vehicles....Geez that narrows it down a lot,.... Yeh I think you could go back to the 1920s or even earlier with the 410 chev 4s for the 1st, but never mind them, that was before any of us were born. No Im t

Hq was the last pre commodore, HQ was 350 only, HK had 307,327, HT was 350 as was HG. re introduction was VT series 2 with 5.7.

Cloudy didnt the HT use the 307 early on before the 308 was ready. Jack.

I think ht had 307 if you had manual trans and 308 for trimatic.

Chevys were bult by Holden from CKD kits. These were painted and trimmed by Holden too. The first V8s were in the 55 era but only a very small amount, and im not sure these were actually put together here. Most of them were 6cyl 3spds. The first large vol

Also, the Gen 3 & Gen 4 V8s are not Chevs, they are classified as being a GM-Powertrain product.


Terry, I cannot get my head around that comment no matter which way I try to think of it. The Gen 3 has been used by GM since 1982 in the release of the

Terry, you could be right on the mainstream Chevs ie 59 onwards. I knew it wasnt 57, wasnt sure if it was 58 or 59.
There were some RHD 4 door pillarless 57s sold new in Australia, but not many. They might have been used solely as consulate cars. I have

Were there any trucks in amongst all them?....Other than recent commodores and monaros, Were there any big block chev V8s fitted to Aussie vehicles?

My 57 I sold a few months ago was one of them. It was painted Shannon green with leather trim, and had a GM-H body plate.
I remember hearing about the V8 4-door sports sedans in 55 - 57 guise sold new over here. I never did get the full story of how they

my brother in law had a 58 biscayne RHD which was a 235blue flame 6, my locally built 66 parisienne sport sedan was originally a 327 (now running a 350 block)

My 57 was from Stacks too. It still had a Stacks badge on it when I sold it.
