Hi Guys,

I have a mechanic telling me that he will not do a roadworthy on my 10th month 1974 HJ LS Coupe because it does not have a charcoal cannister fitted to it?????

I was under the impression "pollution" came in in 1975???

Can anyone confirm either way for me?

Cheers,
Allan

I didnt have any probs with e

im pretty sure carbon canistor and pcv valve is a requirement for adr 27, which im also pretty sure was implemented in 1973.

Check your compliance plate, if its got 27 listed, your screwed (as far as getting away without a carbon canistor for the ticke

This is becoming a bit of a drama, because the various inspectors dont have a clue & there is very little documentation to back up what we say or think.

Firstly there is confusion over the date of introduction of ADR27, ADR27A & carbon canisters & exac

Well the plot has really thickened!

I had a rather interesting chat today with the original owner of my HJ LS Coupe, the bloke who bought it brand new from the Holden dealership in Sydney.

He swears it NEVER came with any pollution gear whatsoever!

Hi Terry,

I think when the original owner said it never came with any pollution gear on it he was referring to the Charcoal Cannister which is the sticking point with the roadworthy. The bloke writing the roadworthy wants me too fit one and I say it wa

I helped out a mate in the HDT club.
The EPA inspectors defected him for no EGR valve.

What they didnt realise, is VH 308s had EGR - but only on autos. Manuals had it blanked off.

So I copied the pages out of the parts books that dealt with the EG
