Hi Guys, looking for advice on a red motor set up for my EK sedan, I have a couple of options and not sure which combo to go.

The Engines
Red Motor - either 186 or 202

The Gearboxes
Either Trimatic or T700

The Diff
HR diff - but I am not sure what ratio to run (was thinking 3.08 or 2.73 or ????- not too sure with towing)

The Sedan will be a daily driver and will need to be abel to tow my 15 foot vintage caravan for frequent trips away and keep up with traffic reasonably well round town.

Yes I could go with a V6 or V8 but I dont want to - trying to keep it period hottie.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Matt

I have helped with a caouple of these, my preference would be:

Blue 202 with trimatic, using UC Torana floor shift as the indicator is intergral with the shifter, so console height is not a problem. (or use the trimatic conversion kits for EKs on ebay,

I agree with Warren. Run a 202 with trimatic and 3.08 diff with 14" wheels (or 15" with low profile typres like 205/65/15). Except Id use a red pre pollution 202 with black EFI head and blue/black dizzy. Avoids canisters etc.
I like the UC shifter. I use

was the EK originally auto?, it will say on the ID tag ending in A or M
eg 225M.
the auto tunnel will make an aussie 4 sp conversion easier.

Its always a bonus, if you on a budget (who isnt?)

Also You will need an EH sump and pickup to run the red
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.
