Some of the other forums i post on have a "lounge" section which is for general, any topic discussion.... I see one of the problems here is that the general discussion and technical talk are lumped together...

on the other forums the moderators allow p

On the Torana theres an area called "Off Topic" which caters for anything unrelated to the other technical areas, it works well, its easy to ignore if you dont want to get involved as the area a post is put in shows on the subscription email or post path.

You only have to be in front at the end of the race.

I think you guys are onto a good idea.

It could be a single 'off topic' area, where both the ford and holden fans can post non car related stuff.

As a moderator Delete has always worked for me BCB

Responding to them only gives them un-deserved attention.

This is a great move for a great site. THANK YOU RSP

well i was and remain unconvinced of the benefits of requiring registration but i guess we will see what evolves.
however i am definitely not in favour of posts being rewritten by moderators no matter what the intentions are. by all means censor for lang

It does' nt need to be complicated. I'm with. johnperth. The post needs to be censored or it does'nt. If any post needs to be corrected, varied and rewritten you are protecting the poster. Just censor the whole posting, not part of it. If the poster is se

i will rewrite a post, the same as i will take an abusive word out, and or an abusive phase,
i will delete the whole post, if it is trash,
matters not if it is one word taken out, or a sentence, it is being rewritten!

i have to say, unless any editing is made blatantly obvious to all who read it, then its unethical and smacks of the same censorship that conspiracy theorists accuse all and sundry of.

If the post is that offensive that it requires "moderating" then it

As a Moderator here I usually only delete dead ads and postings rendered obsolete by the deletion of the original posting making the reat of it irrelevant... and SPAMMERS of course.

Hi,

For the alteration of any member's input by a moderator to be fair and just, the changes made must be in an alternate colour like red. This way anyone can see what the poster was trying to say and what the moderator has adjusted.

Sometimes it amazes me the actions of both mods and members. I mentioned in another topic that i administrate a forum with several thousand members from all over the globe.

Do you know that one of the biggest arguements i ever had was over my decision
