Because i am currently looking for a Q my dad had a talk with me and he told me that his best mates first car was a 1970 HQ belmont. They both say that they are %100 sure it was built and registered in 1970. all the books say 71 so why havnt the books changed if it ture?

it's like with the VT commodore actually started production in the last 3 months of 1997 and the books say 98.

so when were these cars actually built from?

Untrue. HG was phased out in Australia in 1971 calendar year but in 1972 model year. HG was also sold in SA until about 1973. The earliest HQ I have seen is a 6/71. Prototypes were probably built in 1970 but none of these would ever have made it to the pu

If you already knew the answer why did you ask the question?
As Byron stated HQ production began in the middle of 1971.

It is also possible to get errors on plates. I have heard of 1971 VC Commodores.

James,

You asked the question, unfortunately you are out by one year. It is amazing how often that happens, I recently sold my mothers car and we were discussing the time that she purchased it (and the house) and she was addiment that it was 78 when sh

On the VT the Holden heritage book (from Holdens) does state Aug 1997 for VT release. It also states july 71 for HQ release.

To add to what Warren has said, mistakes on compliance plates are not that uncommon either.

I know of an LC GTR we see at cars shows. It is a very tidy two-owner, low mileage car with full history & its plate is stamped 9/60 instead of 9/70. There were

The other thing is, the model year actually starts on Sept 1 of the previous year, and finishes on August 31 of the same year.
Thus a 1998 model year VT is between Sept 1 1997 & Aug 31 1998.

The japs have got out of hand with it, there were some MY08

Lets whittle it down to 400,000 because 85,000 were exports .

Then HQ racing must of eaten up 100,000 ,and rust another 200,00 so were down to 100,000 now take out the ones that wouldve worn out, been stolen or crashed = ?

anonymous, there were still 485,000 built though! which is what i said

todays figure?? well im not sure, 100,000 cars to hq racing, that sounds a bit much, rust, wrecked and crushed 200,000 sounds a bit low

if i had to guess how many are alive today
