Gday, I'm just in the process of buying a HG Holden Windowless panelvan with a red 202 and a 3 speed trimatic auto with no rust for $1500. I want to spend $5000 on her. I was thinking of a twin barrel stromberg, my old man said he had one on his 179 hp block in his EH and it went like a scalded cat.

Suggestions regarding possible interiors, exhausts, engine mods, paints, rims, and suspensions would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Ferntree Gully, Melbourne. Know of any local shops that could help me?

Cheers

try and do it all yourself, $5000 at a panel shop these days gets you a sniff of the thinners and alot of "ummms and aghhhs," and "you know it needs this.." then another bill for $15000 when its done, in around 7 1/2 yrs.

Frank is sort of correct, but there are decent panel shops around. Look for one with the owner having classic cars of some sort and it might be a good start. You wont see much change out of $5k though.

Interior and exterior - my advice is make it as st

Well done for $1500 with no rust, the HGs are bad for rust

Worth considering Leaving the Van original ,as they seem to have a bit of a cult following again of recent times and will be more sought after and valuable in the future . And if you want to save fuel probably best to buy a Gemini Gypsy van instead. You w

Totally agree. I wouldnt use anything other than a trimatic or an all synchro 3spd, although a Saginaw conversion isnt that bad as at least its standard equipment using standard parts.
