Hi All

I am looking to pick better brains than mine.

I would like to try and get a little more out of the HJ 308 in a GTS/4 (partial pollution).

At the moment it has:

A mild cam
pacemaker extractors
Recon rochester carb.

Just in case its relevant, running supra 5 speed and, i think, 2.38 diff and goes nice when all 4 barrels are open.

Everything is running well but a little more poke off the line would be great.

I know its a very general question but has anyone got some ideas?

Thanks

Mark

Poke off the line? Lower diff gears. Depending on the ratios in the 5 speed, youd probably still be fine down the freeway (if you do that often) even with something in the low to mid 3s in the diff.

A 2.78 diff with a 5spd as HQforme says is not the best combo, although 1st gear in a Supra with the 2.78 probably ends up the same as an M21 with a 3.36. Id look towards a 3.36 anyway.

Thanks everyone.

Pont69, I think it might be the 2.78 (but only based on the fact that this was what was originally in the car).

Is there anyway i can tell be looking at it from the outside?

To the cheese eating surrender monkey,

Thank you for your observation. I just wasted a few seconds of my life reading your response which could have been better spent plucking nasal hair.

2.78 with supra 5 spd (depending on tyres) would be doing 1900revs at 100km appox. 5th gear is a 20 percent o/drive.

That seems to be about bang on, Musksell.

I will get it up this arvo and double check.

Then I might be in the market for 3.36 or 3.55 gearing - anyone got anything (Pont69, i think you said you did)?

Hi guys,

Done some checking today.

Turns out, i already have a 3.55 sal and am doing about 2300 - 2400rpm for 100kmh.

That means then, 308, mild cam, rochester, extractors, 3 inch twin system, 5 speed supra box, 3.55 sal diff.

I spose based o

Hi all

I should say that i plan on stroking it at some time in the future, so something compatible with that would likely be best.
