1971 - 1972 HQ were short tail centres

1973 HQ - HZ were long tail centres

which is why they are rare to find

P.S

Rares sell the repro caps that bolt on...

the originals are easily stolen and can fall off as the pins get brittle with age...

they look ok and it could be a good alternative...

if you get a lead exhaust ring from a 6 cyl (between manifold and pipe)these fit inside the 3 prongs once its on the rim , once fitted the caps cannot be removed ,try it.

i used a 63mm cir clip on the back of my gts caps to keep them in place.but you do need a good set of pliers to get them in there.

Then these ones are not for you!
Go on flebay and find some gutter rashed half faded rusted ones.
Your problem is then solved.

$195 for a new set that will actually stay on?.
thats what i run nowadays.

all the genuine ones i have in a cupboard, and one in average condition would be worth $50 each.
$80-$100 for a mint one. Short tail more...$$
Not that they are for sale, but

ok.
was just trying to point out that a genuine set in avg. condition would probaby be worth more than $195..

glad to see you have finally put a price on the monaro, maybe we can talk more seriously about it now if its still for sale.
