Ive put a post up on another forum as there were a couple of guy's that had received alot of advice and assistance in chasing their cars race history, so I thought it only fair to ask here as well since there are some NZ people here and probably some involved in the racing scene back then!!
I bought a 1971 HQ 350 GTS in Mid 2007 from New Zealand. I won't go into the whole story but after two years of chasing I have managed to find out that the car was in fact raced. The second owner sold the car to Neville Crichton and he raced it in the NZ GTX Production car series of 1973/74 seasons along side Jim Richards in an XA GT. Neville then sold the car to Don Scott which is where I am stuck. I have been trying to find Don Scott but don't seem to be able to. Had a couple of leads, one was from Mark Sheehan, Neville's mechanic of the day, he seemed to think he was running a motel in Tauranga or Mt Maunganui area but after contacting the Motel assoc over there that was a dead end.
Brian Green used to race the car with Don and gave me an address in Chermside, Queensland, but I sent a letter a good 3-4 weeks ago and haven't heard a thing.
Does anyone know about the car or about Don Scott and where he could be?

You tried sending something to Aussie Muscle Car magazine? They tend to have a few letters each issue of people hunting for info on their cars...worth a shot!

Lets just hope more info comes to light for you. Hardly any HQ 1837 coupes ever raced and yours must be close to the only one left. Incidently, does anyone know what spec level Bob Janes HQ coupe originally was? Was the other Crichton coupe also a GTS350?

I will speak to Myles tomorrow, and ask him if its ok for me to pass on his number to you. He should be able to clear up any questions you have.
I believe BJs HQ was 350 powered, Myles will confirm this as well.

Hi H81837Q,

AMC will do a great article on the car if you have contacted them. Mark Oastler puts out the best motoring magazine at present bar none. I know Ben Stewart contributes and maybe you should contact him with your car details. What he can find
