40987 is Ac delco fuel pump which is embossed on the pump itself and there is 2 types an early original type and a later one The battery should have the Ac delco embossed on the side in green i am not sure of the number but have both in NOS which i will

Original battery was from Clyde i also have about 3 other second hand ones that look the same but have the flat circle in the centre which takes a GMH decal from the same era most likely from Clyde engineering in NSW AND Deffinettly NOT repros [[[ BEFOR

Hi,
Does anyone know what an early HQ GTS 350 had as a battery? Was it a rubber item or the moulded plastic type? I can remember plastic batteries with glass marbles in them around 1973-4 but cant find good pictures of the type of battery I am looking

Mum had a hq 72 prem from new and that had a Lucas battery in it and was white plastic from memory with a red top. remember it cause the old man used to keep the old batteries behind the shed.

Graham at Holgold Wreckers had a NOS one a few years back . It was the correct "Orange " and "White" Lucas type you are talking about . i remember that one too it was sold as i umed and rrred over it for months sitting in that cabinet and then it was gone still worth the email though he had some great stuff if you are after specific nos stuff especially later stuff early commodore. Sorry

This is excellent information. I can remember the battery with the glass marbles in the fillers.
Now if the HQ had a plastic battery at release (mid 71), did the 1971 HGs also have plastic batteries as opposed to the hard rubber types? Ma

I have an original tar top that was in my 57 Chevy when I bought it. It eventually died but I kept it. Its the same post pattern as a Holden. I think its a Globe or Nasco (will look tomorrow). I kept it just in case its correct for a late 60s Monaro.

was a few different colors but i could be wrong and stand corrected the 50s was white the the 60s yellow and the 70s green on the logos
