Ive bought some 14x7 HR rims which I was told they'd fit, which of course they don't. I'm having some clearance issues and have bought spacers, however I might have to do some more clearancing on the upper control arms.

I'm going to be putting in longer HQ studs, but what are your thoughts on what else I can do to improve clearance?

Or should I toss it all in the too hard basket and get rims with a more +ve offset?

What rims do you have? HR only had 13" diameter wheels from factory.
HQ studs? Do you mean HQ stub axles with vented rotors & calipers to suit? If so, the options for wheel choice will be better. But your rear will need to be bought into line with the H

whats the biggest size wheel that can go on a hr without any mods? does lowered springs on the front and blocks on the back play any part to wheel decision?

the lower you go, the more chance of wheel rub on wheel arch.
worse if its a HR premier, as it will rub on your stainless steel mouldings and dislodge them.
i have run 13 x 7 anson sprint and 13 x 8 US indy on rear on HR Premier before with 235 50 and 2
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.

Thanks for all of the advice. Ive decided to not put on the 14x7 rims on the front, and so am looking for a pair of 14x6 for the front instead - cheaper, smarter, safer option. The 14x7 on the rears are tyred up and ready to go and fit great. Looks tough

What bit is doing the rubbing? the centre on the caliper or the top arm on the rim.

I think you best bet if are set on those wheels might be a change to LH-LX-UC Torana stubs and brakes.

Ive just been having the same trouble but mine could be easily

You cant put Torana stubs on a HR. You can put Torana calipers and discs, but not the stubs. The King Pin Inclination Angle is different and the front end is all wrong.

Torana stubs are probably not an option as the geometry of Torana stubs is not compatable with the HR front end assembly. They will fit up, but are incorrect.

Dont know. Do some measurements. You gotta find out rim width, back spacing dimensions, rolling diameter of tyre, total tyre width, that will suit your car & your taste. Its one of those things. You gotta try wheels on your particular car. See what youre
