Hi everyone. I have an HJ GTS with a chamois interior. I was wondering where I could get vinyl paint in the same colour as the GMH interior colour chamois'? I have searched everywhere and can find nothing even close.

Also, when having the car dynoed (308 engine), I was advised that the car has a 2.78:1 (highway) rear axle setup on it, thus it is OK on the highway, but is sluggish on takeoff and overtaking etc. How would I know for sure? as I am thinking of changing it to at least a 3.08:1 to make it 'a bit more lively' so to speak. Any advice? Is it a complex job, or could a tinkerer like me do it (reasonably good with the tools - not a mechanic though). Does the whole diff need to be changed?

Any advice is appreciated. Cheers guys.....

to find the diff ratio, hop under the car and where the rear uni bolts to the diff there is a ring on the diff, the ratio is stamped on this

the easiest way to change to ratio is to change the whole diff

if it wasnt for the last minute id get nothin

Clean the metal plate ring around the back of the diff yoke. Itll have the ratio there if its original. Or pull the cover plate off and itll be on the crownwheel.
To do it yourself a complete housing and centre swap is advisable. A diff shop will do it e

just get a 3.08 diff and do the swap in your drive way, it will only take a few hours and is quite easy, diff will cost you $100-$300 depending on condition

if it wasnt for the last minute id get nothing done

theres not much difference between 2.78 and 3.08, if you want to notice a differnce and dont care about highway driving of fuel econemy then go a 3.36 or 3.55

if it wasnt for the last minute id get nothing done

The code for Chamois interior paint is
17214 for the console in low gloss
Do you have any pics of your interior and is it Chamois/Covert or Chamois/Black?

308 and (I assume) M21 with 2.78? Yuk! No wonder its sluggish off the mark. That is extremely unlikely to be the original combo, so it could also be a 2.6:1 diff. Holden rarely ever even put a 3.08 diff behind an M21 in HQ-HZ, they are normally 3.36. If y
