The problem is that Australia treats shareholders like they are important. More important than an employee or a customer.

Yes shareholders do own the company but they are not important as they too can be replaced. The best way to run a company would be if the employees were major shareholders and not some foreign company.

unions in this country should not be immune to wide ranging criticism for the state of manufacturing in australia....

it is no secret we as a manufacturing country are not competitive when compared to our asian neighbours.... there is fighting for work

allus though gts if we block imports we are being hipocrytical. We stop imported food but we think its ok to export or own food. What the difference. my only concern is we have to meet massive export standards and our import regulatoins are lesser standar

I think that we should be treating our natural resources like the Arabs do.

Why can't we say "from today on you will be paying XXX more for our iron ore or woodchips or whatever" Where else are they going to get the stuff.

At the rate china is growing with their internal expansion and consumption soon they wont have to worry about exports to other countries, all they want is some of our raw materials. Jack
