i think it is like facebook or my space, couldn't be bothered with either of them so i don't think i'll bother with this one either

Hi Mate, Twitter is a social networking or micro-blogging site that enables people to send and read each others' updates.
In a way I guess it's similar to sites like this, except instead of posting to a public forum you post to your own individual page

I'm not real bright when it comes to the internet and i understood your description perfectly.
